Be driven by sandstorm

  

 

The project is a Media art that abstractly expresses impression and symbolism of Dubai.
Dubai has the tallest building in world-Burj Khalifa.
Dubai is one of the seven Emirates and it is the largest city amongst all emirates.

We selected the sandstorm which represents Dubai as a main theme of the project since it's a natural phenomenon
with a look of absolute God that came down to swallow up the Earth.

We used metaphorical way to show the Symbolism of the Modern City representing the 21st century instead of taking
a conventional approach to show it with a predictable way.

 

 

 

모래 폭풍에 이끌리다

 

 

이 프로젝트는 두바이의 인상과 상징성을 추상적으로 표현한 미디어아트 작품이다.

세계에서 가장 높은 빌딩인 부르즈 칼리파를 보유하고 있는 두바이는 아랍에미리트를 구성하는 7개의 토후국 중 하나로 

아랍의 어느 곳에서도 찾아보기 힘들 만큼 규모적인 측면에서 시각을 압도하는 도시이다. 

두바이를 상징하는 모래 폭풍은 

지구를 삼키려 강림한 절대신 같은 형상의 대표적 자연 현상이었기 때문에 이 프로젝트의 메인 테마로 선정하였으며 또한,

21세기를 대표하는 대규모 현대도시가 갖고 있는 상징성을 뻔한 방식으로 드러내 보이지 않고도 은유적으로 받아들일 수 있게 접근하였다.

2022 Korean modern dance dances in the Sandstorm

 

 

We discovered a woman motif that raised the wind and used the movement of modern dance as implicative visual object
of the sandstorm that hits the space.
We helped people to focus on image itself with an immersive Media art technique not with storytelling technique
which has a clear conclusion.
We wanted the audience to have overwhelming emotions like sandstorm just at the sight of it.

 

 

“한국의 현대무용이 모래폭풍 안에서 춤을 추다”

 

바람을 일으키는 모티브로 여인을 발굴, 현대무용의 움직임을 공간을 덮치는 모래 폭풍의 함축적인 시각 오브제로 활용함으로써,

기승전결이 뚜렷한 스토리텔링 기법이 아닌 이미지 자체에 집중을 하게 만드는 몰입형 미디어아트 기법을 통해

관람자가 보는 것만으로도 마음이 압도되고 모래폭풍처럼 격정적인 감정을 느끼기를 의도했다.
