칼로스는 대전 한화생명 이글스파크 메인홀 공간을 하나의 거대한 데이터 캔버스로 전환하며, 미디어아트 프로젝트 〈Data Panorama〉를 선보였습니다. 본 프로젝트는 약 3,000만 건에 이르는 공공 및 한화생명 데이터를 가로 12m, 세로 4m 규모의 대형 LED 월을 통해 몰입형 시각 예술로 구현한 작업입니다. 숫자와 도표로 데이터를 설명하기보다, 그 안에 축적된 시간과 움직임의 흐름을 관객이 감각적으로 경험하도록 설계되었습니다.
30여 년에 걸쳐 축적된 데이터는 국민건강보험 진료 기록, 보험금 지급 이력, 연금 및 저축 정보, 사회공헌 활동 데이터 등을 포함합니다. 이러한 추상적인 수치들은 하나의 장대한 풍경으로 재구성되며, 콘텐츠는 총 세 개의 챕터로 전개됩니다. 각 장면에서 데이터는 자연의 일부처럼 공간 안을 흐르고 변화하며 파노라마적으로 펼쳐집니다.
‘Gradient Tree’는 건강 데이터를 나무의 나이테로 시각화해 생명의 축적과 시간을 상징하고, ‘Gradient Canyon’은 금융 데이터의 밀도와 방향성을 거대한 협곡의 지형으로 풀어냅니다. ‘Gradient Land’는 사회공헌 데이터를 불꽃의 역동적인 이미지로 표현하며, 에너지와 지속성을 상징합니다. 세 작품은 각기 다른 공간 언어를 통해 데이터가 지닌 고유한 성격과 리듬을 드러냅니다.
모든 챕터에서 데이터의 규모와 변화, 흐름은 색채와 움직임, 공간 깊이의 설계로 이어지며, 기술적 정보는 감각적 경험으로 전환됩니다. 〈Data Panorama〉는 데이터를 단순히 ‘보여주는’ 것을 넘어, 우리 삶을 형성해 온 보이지 않는 흐름을 공간 속에서 체감하게 하는 작업으로, 데이터 기반 미디어아트에 대한 칼로스만의 독자적인 시각을 담고 있습니다.
KALLOS presented the media art project Data Panorama, transforming the main hall of Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon into a vast data canvas. The project visualizes nearly 30 million records of public and Hanwha Life data as immersive visual art, realized on a large-scale LED wall measuring 12 meters wide by 4 meters high. Rather than explaining data through numbers and charts, the work invites audiences to experience the accumulated flow of time and movement embedded within the data.
Spanning more than three decades, the dataset includes national health insurance medical records, insurance claim histories, pension and savings information, as well as data related to social contribution activities. These abstract figures are reinterpreted as expansive visual landscapes. The content unfolds across three chapters, each presenting data as if it were part of a natural panorama, flowing and evolving within the architectural space.
Gradient Tree visualizes health data as the growth rings of a tree, symbolizing the accumulation of life over time. Gradient Canyon translates the density and direction of financial data into a monumental canyon-like terrain, while Gradient Land expresses social contribution data through the dynamic imagery of flames, representing energy and continuity. Each chapter reveals the unique character and rhythm of its data through a distinct spatial language.
Across all three works, elements such as scale, variation, and data flow inform the orchestration of color, motion, and spatial depth. Through this process, technical information is transformed into a sensory experience, where technology and art converge.
Data Panorama goes beyond simply displaying data, offering instead a spatial encounter that allows audiences to physically sense the invisible flows shaping our collective lives—an approach that reflects KALLOS’s distinctive vision of data-driven media art
