Be driven by the wind
The wind changes itself by the season, the places, and the flow of time.
It's free all the time and we long for it.
The project is about the story of Jeju wind which stressed-out modern people are driven by.
The series visualize "Windy space" in Jeju and "The feeling of the modern people" driven by the place.
The 3 themes(Bijarim, Oreum, Sea) symbolize the space representing the image of Jeju.
The shape of the wind in Jeju and its movement were visually represented with hyperrealistic expression and digital tech.
“바람에 이끌리다”
`바람은 계절에 따라, 장소에 따라, 시간의 흐름에 따라 그 모습을 변화시킨다.
바람은 언제나 자유롭기에 우리는 바람을 동경한다.
이 프로젝트는 일상에 지친 현대인을 이끌리게 하는 제주의 바람에 대한 이야기이다.
이 연작시리즈는 제주라는 이름의 “바람이 부는 공간”과 그 곳에 이끌리는 “현대인의 정서”를 시각적으로 표현하고 있다.
“비자림, 오름, 바다”라는 세 가지 테마는 제주의 이미지를 대표하는 공간을 상징하며,
그 곳에 머무는 바람의 형태와 움직임을 초 현실주의적 표현기법과 디지털기술을 통해 시각적으로 구현하였다.
Be driven by Jeju wind
Small hope and excitement from travel. The comfort getting from island's nature.
To visualize these 2 feelings we can get in Jeju, we found a medium which is "The wind" and we represented its movement in a Korean Contemporary Dance.
Since the wind is invisible, we interpreted each space in our own way and show the wind carrying the color of the space.
We insisted a design with a deep meaning and the message.
It's not a storytelling technique with clear-cut in the storyline. We instead used immersive media art which makes people to focus on the image itself. We intended that people feel free as the wind and have peaceful mind by just watching it.
“제주의 바람에 이끌리다”
여행이 가져다주는 일탈의 설레임과 섬의 자연이 가져다주는 마음의 편안함.
우리는 제주에서 느낄 수 있는 이 양가적 감정을 시각화 하기 위해 “바람”이라는 매개체를 발굴하였고
그 움직임을 한국현대무용을 빌어 구현했다.
눈에 담을 수 없는 바람을 인상으로 담기위해 각각의 공간들을 우리만의 스타일로 해석했고 그 공간의 색을 담고 있는 바람을
드러냄으로써 이유있는 디자인과 메시지를 고집하였다.
기승전결이 뚜렷한 스토리텔링 기법이 아닌 이미지 자체에 집중을 하게 만드는 몰입형 미디어아트 기법을 통해
관람자가 보는 것만으로도 마음이 편안해지고 바람처럼 자유로워지는 감정을 경험하기를 의도했다.

Oreum is a type of monogenetic volcano geomorphologically. Jeju is the only Island which has more than 360 Oreums.
The crater is either funnel-shaped or horseshoe-shaped.
오름에 이끌리다
오름은 지형학적으로 단성 화산의 한 유형이다.
오름은 제주도에만 유일무이하게 360개 이상이 있으며 분화구의 형태는 깔때기 모양이거나 말굽형으로 되어있다.

Bijarim is a rare place having 500 and 800 years old nutmeg yew trees in.
It looks out at us across thousands of years.
We can see various type of nutmeg yew trees including the tree hit by lightning to large trees with long years.
비자림에 이끌리다
천 년의 세월이 녹아든 신비로움 가득한 비자림은 500~800년생 비자나무들이 자생하는 세계적으로도 희귀한 장소다.
벼락 맞은 나무부터 긴 세월이 느껴지는 아름드리 나무까지 다양한 비자나무를 만날 수 있다.

현무암이 공존하는 제주의 바다는 독특하고 특별하면서도 다채롭다.
단지 아름답다고 하기에는 육지의 바다에서 쉽게 볼 수 없는 특색이 뚜렷하다.
